Temporary Restriction from Participation in Physical Education
Please notify your student's campus nurse of any temporary restrictions and provide a note. Parental notes are accepted for up to 3 days. After 3 days of sitting out of physical education, a physician or other licensed healthcare provider's note is required.
Any student who is not participating in PE will also not be permitted to participate in recess, due to equal risk of injuring themselves further.
If your student has been hospitalized, a note from your student’s physician stating the return to school date and any limitations required is needed. If your student has an injury requiring interventions, such as surgery, cast, crutches, wheelchairs, etc., then a physician’s note prescribing the activities the student is or is not allowed to do is required. This helps us provide the safest learning environment for your student.
Per the Texas Administrative Code and the IISD Handbook, students who are temporarily restricted from participation in physical education will not actively participate in skill demonstrations but will remain in class to learn the concepts of the lessons.
