Industrial ISD does not stock medication for students, including over-the-counter medication such as Tylenol, Motrin, Advil, Tums, etc. The exception is a few standing order medications. For students to be medicated, parents must provide the medication. The medication can be stored in the nurse's office for future use.
The following form must also be completed to give the school nurse or other personnel permission to administer the medication you provided.
All medications require a signature from both the parent and a licensed provider (MD, DO, PA, or NP). The campus' school nurse may be able to assist in obtaining a signature by faxing in some cases.
Industrial ISD personnel will not administer any medications that are not FDA-approved. This includes any herbal sustances, dietary supplements, and anabolic steroids. Exceptions may be granted if prescribed by a physician and required by the IEP or 504 Plan of a student with a disability. Reliable information must be provided in writing and signed by the prescribing physician regarding the safe use of the product, including side effects, toxicity, drug interactions, and adverse effects.
